Nate led an interactive session for Moving Worlds Institute Fellows clarifying the business case for social impact and how companies differ in how they integrate social impact.  Nate also shared his personal experience overcoming barriers to social change within a corporate setting and invited participants to brainstorm ideas to take action as a "social intrapreneur."

Corporate Service Council Meeting: Scaling Collaborations for Good. February 2016, Washington, DC USA. 

Nate shared the results of his latest publication on "The purpose-driven professional."  Even as organization invest in social impact initiative, these activities often remain disconnected from a part of the business where they should be intimately connected: talent and leadership-development programs. In an hour-long breakout, Nate discussed six strategies field pioneers have found effective in connecting social impact to talent development. IBM, Neilsen, and Fidelity also shared their experiences.

Making SDGs Count: Corporate Archetype Models

Nate and his Deloitte colleagues led one of many discussions around the launch of the pioneering report "Driving corporate growth through social impact" showcasing recent trends in how corporations are using social impact strategies to protect and create value.  Through an interactive session, Nate shared insights into Deloitte's research around four social impact archetypes and how the UN Foundation could utilize these findings to better partner with key corporate stakeholders.

Nate presented on his research on Corporate archetypes with his Deloitte colleagues as part of a broader research effort called "License to Innovate: Breakthrough strategies for social impact."  His talk discussed the recent trends among Fortune 500 companies to integrate social impact into their core business. It laid the groundwork for a talk that discussed five distinct innovation strategies that leading companies are taking around social innovation.

Gender Inclusive Leader

Accelerating Gender Equality in Practice - Male Middle Managers' Role. United Nations 2016 Women's Empowerment Principles Annual Event, March 2016, New York, NY USA.

Nate was a panelist in a key discussion drawing upon recent research exploring how male middle managers can support gender parity efforts. The discussion highlighted practices to engage men as supporters of gender inclusion in the workplace.  Nate shared his on-the-ground experiences supporting gender inclusion through team norms, empowering staff, and creating space for hard discussions.

The session convened humanitarian-related stakeholders from the private, public, and social sectors (largely based in Europe).
